Focusing on solo performance of primarily Broadway music, you will leave your last performance with an audition song that you have now performed in front of an audience. Songs are arranged to audition length to best show off your talents. You will also take part in big Broadway medleys to gain experience in what it takes to put across a show-stopping production number. Students participate in both performances and also engage in theatre games and acting exercises--which all contribute to developing their musical performance skills.

Step back in time to an earlier era (1939) and join this itinerant troupe of performers! “The Friendship Players” are in financial difficulty so their producer hires the famous “Darlene Divine” and her boyfriend, Lance, to star in their new show. Unfortunately, the talented Miss Divine is a diva who is mean to all her co-performers. When Lance falls for the sweet Caroline, the other cast members get caught up in the intrigue and the “not-so-nice” Miss Divine receives her come-uppance.

Sing and dance your heart out in this musical by David L. Jackins with period style show-stoppers and beautiful ballads that provide opportunities for lots of solos.

All students will develop their acting skills, not only through performance but during structured acting exercises and theatre games throughout the day.

The 2 performances are “double-cast” (which means that all the lead parts have 2 performers-one performs a lead at each performance. When not performing a lead part, the actor sings and dances with the ensemble-thereby doubling the learning experience!

Directed by veteran stage director Samantha Kulish; choreography by Char Fromentin of Dance Dimensions; with musical direction by Crystal Theatre founder and artistic director, Cheryl Kemeny; assisted by multiple college performing arts majors!

For the younger set, Crystal Theatre’s original musical-- based on Humperdinck’s famous opera—has acting parts for all.

Crystal Theatre artistic director and award-winning playwright/composer Cheryl Kemeny has written a child-friendly script with music from the opera as well as additional lively songs to engage young actors.

Hansel and Gretel and their friends have no fear of playing in the woods—despite rumors of witches who have been spotted flying about. When their mother sends them in search of berries for dinner they lose track of time and find themselves alone. Angels come to watch over them after the sandmen put them to sleep and the beautiful dew-fairies awaken them in the morning. They find a magical house covered in candy and cannot resist the temptation to eat just a little. The witch who lives there captures them and places them under a spell saving them for a later dinner while she goes off to party with her fellow witches. The clever Hansel and Gretel come up with a rescue plan with the help of some neighboring mice and save themselves and their friends.

Children learn the basics of singing, acting and stage dance and demonstrate their accomplishments in 2 Saturday performances on stage and open to the public.

Directed by Crystal Theatre camp director Samantha Kulish with musical direction by Crystal Theatre Artistic Director Cheryl E. Kemeny and assisted by college theatre majors who are also Crystal Theatre alumni.

So begins this musical adventure written by Margaret Jackins with music and lyrics by Cheryl E. Kemeny.
