Rising Stars (High School): Keychain

9th Grade, 10th Grade, 11th Grade, 12th Grade

Mondays 7:00pm - 9:30pm

9th grade - College

The Rising Stars Musical Theatre Production class is proud to present Keychain a brand new modern musical written by current Crystal Theatre student Zachary Anderson. Keychain follows the story of Riley and Casey Wallace who, four years after their parents were killed in a car crash, are now being transferred within the foster care system to a new city for the first time. With a new school, new friends, and new experiences, who's to say life won't take a turn for the worst?

Written to be accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra, Keychain is a deep, emotional drama that can teach us all a lesson: don't kid yourself. Directed by Joseph Santaniello, a voice teacher and director of over 40 productions, a professional singer, and a Boston Conservatory graduate. You'll also be working with composer and writer Zachary Anderson who will music direct and conduct the orchestra for the performances. Come be apart of this world premier as we bring this story to life! Rehearsals will be held Monday evenings for the full cast and Tuesday evenings for smaller groups and music rehearsals. Tuesday rehearsals are based on availability and casting. Crystal Theatre’s 2-absence policy will be strictly enforced.

Caution: This show contains adult material that will be handled and directed with safety and maturity. Middle School students can not register for this class. Also, this show is not suited for young children.

    Musicianship Skills

    Wednesdays 7:30pm - 9:00pm

Are you tired of being lost in music classes because you can’t read music very well or at all? Do you find yourself taking a longer time to learn songs than your friends who play an instrument? Is it hard for you to sing harmonies? Do you need to get better at sight-reading? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this class is for you! Don’t be stereotyped as the “dumb singer” any longer!  Complete beginners to advanced musicians are welcome. Instrumentalists learn how to read music as soon as they begin to learn an instrument, while singers often learn by ear and recordings. Then as singers get older and get into more advanced productions they are expected to read music and sight-read fluently without ever learning the skill. Never fear, this class is for you! Learn intervals, rhythms, conducting patterns, pitch identification, and to solfège  up your game. Many theatre companies require singers to sight-read or to sing a song they have never seen before at callbacks. How good you are at singing does not matter if you don’t have this skill. If you are planning on going to college for musical theatre, opera, or music education and need more practice at these skills, this class is highly recommended!  This course is short, affordable, and teaches an absolutely needed skill in this field. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by! This class is part of Crystal Theatre’s Rising Stars program. The objective of the Rising Stars program is to offer professional training to a smaller group of students at a low cost.
