Rising Stars: Musical Theatre Production

Parent/Guardian, 8th Grade, 9th Grade, 10th Grade, 11th Grade, 12th Grade, College and Adult

Mondays 7:00pm-9:00pm

8th Grade - Adult

The objective of the Rising Stars Intensive program is to offer professional training to a smaller group of students at a low cost. In our spring RSI: MT Production class, a fully costumed and staged musical will be written for the students enrolled. Some of the most popular Broadway material from yesterday to today will be chosen to showcase the students with a script connecting all of the music together. There are no small parts! Every student is featured, for this reason please make sure not to have many conflicts with our rehearsal schedule, as a smaller cast requires full attendance for a successful performance. Join us on a trip to Broadway, where you will have the opportunity to create a character that has been specifically written for you! Don’t wait to sign up, as the writing process mustn’t wait! The class is taught by Joe Santaniello a voice teacher and director of over 40 productions, a professional singer, and a Boston Conservatory graduate. Joining Joe will be singer and collaborative pianist Thomas Buckley, a Westminster Choir College graduate and professional musician.

The students in "Rising Stars: Musical Theatre Production" will also be performing in the Annual Matthew Chiappetta Memorial Concert on Monday, March 9th at 7:00pm. Students will dress in any combination of Black and White and must arrive by 6:30pm. A Mandatory rehearsal for the concert will be on Friday, March 6th from 5:15pm to 6:30pm. For this rehearsal, please enter through the theatre doors.

The Middle School students from "Rising Stars: Musical Theatre Production" are also eligible to apply for the Matthew Chiappetta Memorial Scholarship. The Application will be up on our website at the beginning of February and the Scholarship Interview/Audition will be on Saturday, March 7th. The recipient of the Scholarship will receive a years worth of Crystal Theatre classes. Please check our website for more information regarding the concert, Scholarship and our annual Matthew Chiappetta Shining Angel Bowl-a-thon(Saturday, Feb. 28th) as the dates get closer. All of these events honor the memory of long-time student Matthew Chiappetta, who passed away suddenly at the age of 13 in 2004.

Alexandrea & Cheryl Kemeny’s big musical version of this classic fairy tale is fun for all! The story is narrated by the all-knowing, wise-cracking “Troubadours” and their ditzy “Troubadettes”. Students perform different parts in each performance, so they develop their musical theatre skills in myriad ways—all through one show. In our version, Snow White is comforted by the spirit of her mother and ultimately saved by the handsome Prince!
