Danger and mystery lurk in Mariner Pezza & Cheryl E. Kemény’s new musical! Set in 1888, the adventure begins in London when American-Hungarian, Sándor Temesváry—Sandy-, is sent by Buffalo Bill Cody in search of “Egypsy” performers for his show. He joins his cousins-Baron Zoltán Temesváry & sister Illona- and aunt Ėva and maid, Marika, on their journey to Transylvania to meet Illona’s betrothed-the Count. They are attacked by “highwaymen” and saved by the gypsy, Prince Árpád. The gypsies are on their way to provide music for the Count’s wedding. The plot thickens when the Count’s three “nieces” take a liking to Zoltán, who is only too happy to accommodate them-much to his later distress. The Count’s men eventually engage in a large choreographed knife fight with the Gypsies and Sándor. Who will survive and what mystery binds Illona to the Count? Join the cast and be the first to know!
The show requires a strong singing and dancing ensemble and the music combines Hungarian style csárdás with operetta and current musical theatre style. To lend some authenticity to the sound, Crystal Theatre is importing a 21-year-old gypsy violin prodigy - Jenö Varga- to perform in the cast! Co-directed by Cheryl Kemény & Samantha Kulish with original choreography based on Magyar dances by Char Fromentin, this new show will be an adventure in creativity for all!
