In this version, a group of elementary school children reenact some of Aesop's famous fables, such as The Tortoise and the Hare, Androcles and the Lion and Country Mouse and City Mouse in order to prove to their teacher that they do know about morals and friendship. Your child will also enhance his or her theatrical skills with theater games, improvisation, statues and learn basic theater terminology all while developing his or her self-expression and self-confidence.

Join sweet Amelia & bratty Lucinda as they travel down the well to the Land of Nurtle where they meet singing & dancing loaves of bread, apples, a wily snake and crow, sprites and all manner of strange creatures who direct them to Mother Holly – the lady who makes it snow. Rusty the rock ‘n roll rooster, Curly the superstitious pig and Kitty the catty cat anxiously await their return. What kind of rewards will they receive? Join this cast for a fun time and find out that “you get what you give in the end!”

Whistleville 6:45-9 PM - 8th-12th grades

- For advanced students, this big musical set in South Norwalk, 1907, is the final installment in Cheryl E. Kemeny’s “Ellis Island Trilogy”. Irish immigrant, Kate O’Reilly, and her friend Zsuzsi have witnessed the murder of Kate’s husband, Timothy. They must now hide out from his murderer, Doyle Callaghan, an NYC underworld boss. They travel with another friend, Dinah, to So. Norwalk where Zsuzsi’s Hungarian family lives. They set up a hat shop and Kate becomes embroiled in the intrigues of competing local choruses who use her as bait in order to secure the services of local Italian super-tenor Aldo Salvatore. Romance, comedy, secrets and murder combine in this tale that details the lives of Whistleville’s (the Bouton St-Lexington Ave area) immigrant inhabitants as well as those of the uptown Norwalk establishment.
Directed by Samantha Kulish; choreography by Char Fromentin; musical direction by Cheryl Kemeny and assisted by Greg Kisken and Debra Poruban the 1st weekend performances are students only and the 2nd weekend will feature professional & amateur adults in the cast as well.

Saturday Classes
THE THREE DRAGONS 1-4 PM - 6th-10th grades

- This is a semester for those who relish performing! We are again participating in the Colonial Harvest Festival at the Norwalk Historical Society. Students will perform a half hour musical (different than last year!) set during the American Revolution. The show will be triple cast so as not to be a burden on anyone’s time!
Our main production is co-written by Arden Anderson-Broecking, artistic director emeritus of Crystal Opera with music and additional lyrics by Cheryl Kemeny. Directed by Alexandrea Kemeny, musical direction by Cheryl and assisted by Allie Shapiro, Shannon Donahue and Debra Poruban.
Set in Dickens-era England, this musical melodrama centers on the Willing family who are about to lose their home to the wrecking ball. Scrooge-like Snively van Grudgely and his henchman, Raton de la Sneeque want their property for a new factory and will do anything to get it. Overhearing the prayers of young Sarah Willing, the three magical dragon “gargoyles” – Cholmondely, Fafnir and One Wing Low – come to life to help her out. Using their magic memory tea, they bring Snively back in time to his unhappy childhood to show him the error of his greedy ways!
For those who love to perform, we will be singing at the Lockwood-Matthews Mansion the weekend after our show as well as part of their holiday celebrations.

Enter a medieval world of knights and ladies! The evil King Edwin has stolen the crown by defeating and crippling his good brother, Dominic and killing his beloved wife. Dominic is in hiding as a sword maker – in order to protect his 2 daughters Amber & Brooke. When Brooke is kidnapped by evil Edwin, Amber vows to disguise herself as a boy and become a knight in order to save her. Can she do it alone???
