Prohibition Norwalk: 1925

9th Grade, 10th Grade, 11th Grade, 12th Grade

Thursdays 6:45 - 9:00pm

9th - 12th Grade

Prohibition Norwalk: 1925 is the newest installment in Cheryl Kemeny's Ellis Island Series! It has been 18 years since Kate Sullivan O'Reilly has become Mrs. Robin Brennen. Living on Golden Hill with Robin and their teenage daughter, Maggie, life couldn't be any better. However, after a series of bad investments and anti-Catholic prejudices getting in the way of business, Brennen decides to make money off of Prohibition the illegal way. That decision results in dangerous repercussions for his town and family. The musical also centers around the juxtaposed views on prohibition as Mary Seymour Hirst battles to keep the country dry while the elite over on Bell Island party harder than ever before. It also explores the changing attitudes towards Women's Rights and unrealistic goals of the government's greatest “social experiment”. Directed by co-author of the script Samantha Kulish, musical direction by co-author and composer of the musical Cheryl Kemeny, and choreography by Char Fromentin. Assisting will be Greg Kisken and Debra Poruban. This musical is best suited for advanced musical theatre students and will be used as a senior show for various long time Crystal Theatre high school seniors.
